I shoot photographs of old rust at very close range. As I reviewed the photos, I began to see images of scenes within the photos and started adding painting over the image in order to bring to life what I saw within.
Among the images of old rust I photograph, this one jumped out at me as full of promise. The special lighting of the scene, the mood, and the colors, could be made into a a stunning beach scape.
I worked with paint and pastels to bring the image into focus and to get the feeling I felt, and frankly, to make it look like a beach on a moonlit eve. I love the result and it takes me back to the summers of my childhood.
I have treated the photo for long wear and framed it gallery style.
