I call this process "Photo Painting". Taking a break from painting, I began taking photos of rust. I fell in love with these close up shots of abstract rust which were taken at old car lots, for their color, texture and shapes. As I was looking through a new series of these, I began to see images within the rust--as you might see images when you look at clouds. As I have a fine art background in painting and drawing, I began to paint what I saw within the image on the image.
I have found a passion in this work. Each work is unique.
I simply follow what the image tells me, using paint, pastel, pencils, and a variety of methods. When the image satisfies me, it treated for longevity and mounted.
This image of "Waterfall" was transformed with paint and pastel and I love the remarkable for the color and composition.
