Hues of November is a view from Moran Point at the Grand Canyon which I visited November 1, 2016. I was traveling to the Grand Canyon from Verde Valley with my easel and paints fully determined to paint en plein air at the Canyon. I left early in the morning, and through a series of events including traffic on I17 due to an accident and a control burn which caused me to have to drive 20 mph, I got to Grand Canyon at sunset. I had no time to paint on the spot, but took a series of photos before the sun was gone so I could paint in the studio. This painting is my experience of that day just as the last rays of sun hit the rock formations.

Wonderful sense of depth and extreme distance portrayed in a vertical composition. Light striking the rocks creates a nice movement of color through the scene. Love this!
