    May 2017 Painting Entries

    The May 2017 competition closes May 31, 2017 at 11:59 pm Arizona time. Twelve finalists will be selected including Best in Show who advance to the final competition, August 2017. Additional monthly winner is Artists Choice.  Judge: Kathryn Stats. See our Judges page.

    Winners (finalists) from previous month announced before the 20th of the current month.  Best in Show receives $200 cash; Artists Choice receives $100 cash; 12 finalists (11 plus Best in Show) go on to compete for Grand prizes: first, $5000, second, $1000, and third, $750.

    Get a Professional Review of your Painting: $35

    A professional artist member judge from our painting contest will review your painting and give you an expanded critique on what is positive or negative, with answers to your specific questions. Written critique from 300 to 500 words includes specific answers to your questions. Introductory price: $35 USD. Service available to members or non-members alike. See latest posted reviews here.

    Criteria for Review: In addition to constructively commenting on your use of elements such as color, values, composition, drawing, originality, mood, etc, the judge will give you his or her immediate impression of the work and if possible, ways to improve.

    Terms: Party/artist requesting a review agrees to accept judge's comments and written review as delivered. There shall be no refund offered after judge delivers the review. It shall be understood that the review is based on the training and experience of the reviewer, is subjective in nature, and not a definitive assessment of a particular artwork. Judges are professional artists with an extensive record of achievement, with some or all of the following: academic credentials, membership in established art organizations, authored publications in books and magazines, multiple gallery promotions, acceptance into juried shows, and leaders of popular painting workshops.
